The Spokesmen were comprised of Johnny Madara, David White and Ray Gilmore. In 1965, Madara and White had an independent production
deal with Decca Records and Ray was a disc jockey on Philly's #1 radio station WIBG. They decided to write a response to Barry McGuire's
" Eve of Destruction" in the form of a song titled "The Dawn of Correction." They recorded it for Decca and it became a top 20 hit
on the Billboard chart. It was followed by an album and the group made quite a few TV appearances including;
American Bandstand,
The Mike Douglas Show, Shindig, Where the Action is and Hollywood A-Go-Go to name a few. Their recording stirred much controversary
and they were not permited to perform it on most of the shows, so they performed other songs from their album.
